La 16ème édition de MUTEK se déroule cette fin de semaine et on a demandé à Vincent Lemieux, un des organisateurs, de créer un petit mix pour vous donner un avant-goût de ce qui vous attend au cours des prochains jours.

MUTEK a toujours encouragé les performance originales, et s'est taillé une réputation basée sur la promotion des performances live. Les visiteurs sont exposés à un environment multisensoriel au coeur du Quartier des spectacles qui ne fait que renforcer l'ambiance unique de MUTEK. Vous pouvez jeter un coup à la programmation officielle ici, et Vincent a été assez gentil pour nous donner quelques suggestions. La série Parterre du Quartier des spectacles, un évènement complètement gratuit, se déroulera de 17h à 21h le jeudi et vendredi, ainsi que le samedi et dimanche de 15h à 21h. De plus, Vincent propose la performance de Hiroaki Umeda, intitulée SPLIT FLOW & HOLISTIC STRATA. La performance aura lieu ce vendredi au Théâtre Maisonneuve de 19h30 à 21h30, et servira comme un début nord-américain pour un spectacle qui joue sur la musique, la lumière et la danse.

The 16th edition of MUTEK is kicking into high gear and we tapped Vincent Lemieux, one of the organizers, to create a guest mix to give you a taste of what you can expect over the next few days.

MUTEK has always sought out and promoted original creations that take place in real time and has developed a reputation based on emphasizing live performances. Visitors are treated to a multi-sensory experience in the Quartier des Spectacles that only enhances the MUTEK experience. You can check out the entire program here, but Vincent was nice enough to pass on some recommendations about what not to miss. The Parterre Du Quartier Des Spectacles series, a free showcase, is on from 5-9pm on Thursday and Friday and from 3-9pm on Saturday and Sunday. The other must-see event, according to Vincent, will be Hiroaki Umeda's SPLIT FLOW & HOLISTIC STRATA performance. The show will be held at Théâtre Maisonneuve on Friday from 7:30-9:30 and will mark the North American premiere of Umeda's unique performance that blends music, light and dance.

Notre ami de longue date Jeremy a récemment découvert un très bon mix et nous l'a envoyé. Depuis, nous l'écoutons en boucle au bureau et au magasin.

Le mix a été créé par How to Dress Well - aka l'artiste américain Tom Krell - alors qu'il était en lendemain de veille et encore au lit. "i think life might be elsewhere (hungover mix)" inclut une série de chansons par M.I.A., Tink, Kanye et plusieurs autres.

Our long time friend Jeremy recently discovered a great mix and sent it over to us. Since then, we listen to it on repeat at the office and at the shop.

Listening to Arthur King Mix

A slow and contemplative mix, on the thin line between genius and total boredom, I call this music "boring" (no offense). Includes : rap with no lyrics, screwed music, hashtag rnb, James Blake-ish instrumentals, Louis CK, Homer Simpson and the Nespresso theme music.
